SCM601 - Unit 4 - Lesson 1

Goods Issue Posting for Cost Centers

When withdrawing warehouse materials to be debited to cost center , the goods issue in IM is the start of the process. If the issung storage location is linked to warehouse in customizing, a TR is generated for the material quantity to be be withdrawn , in addition to the material and accounting documents. At the same time , this quantity is mapped as a negative quant in the interim storage area goods issue zone.

A material withdraw for a work order for production is mapped in the same way, as long as you are not using the WM-PP interface . This means that a goods issue is posted for the work order in IM (standard movement type is 261) . This posting generates a negative quants in the goods issue zone for work order (standard storage area 914 ).

SCM601 : Lesson 4

Putaway Process for Inbound Delivery

In the inbound delivery , the system determines a putaway storage location for each delivery item from the purchase order or the customizing settings. If the plant/storage location is linked to a warehouse number in WM system , then the system displays the warehouse number in the inbound delivery.

If you have 'TO' for putaway refers to an inbound delivery for 24 pieces. The putaway takes place before the transaction is posted in IM, this means that temporarely 144 pieces of the material is already exists in the warehouse. However the IM only shows 120 pieces in the stock overview. The negative Quantity ( -24 ) in the good receipt zoone is subtracted from the total stock in the warehouse number. So that the stock overview in WM also shows 120 pieces.

Note:
The goods Receipt posting always refers to the inbound delivery. You can only post goods receipt once the putaway is complete for all items.

Note:
when you put away partial quantities , it results in the overall status B. If the transfer order for putaway has not yet been confirmed , the transfer order status is B.

  •  Total Stock Per Material ( WM System ) : LS26
  •  Total Stock Per Material ( IM System ) : MMBE
  •  Inbound Delivey monitor : VL06I

SCM601 , Unit 3 - Lesson 1

Process Flow : Purchase Order and Good Receipt Posting

If you post GR in a warehouse managed plant/storage location ... What is the effect ?

1. The system will generate transfer requirement automatically (which is the basis document for the subsequent putaway).
2. The system posts the Good Receipted quantity into the goods receipt zone for the external procurements This material is shown as quant(s) in the interim storage type.

In both IM and WM the flow of the goods is controlled using the movements types.

The WM has its own sets of movements types which are linked to its IM counterparts in customizing tables.

The document header of TR shows both movements types.

Some WM movements types are summarized to one IM movement type and vice versa.

SCM601 - Unit 2 Lesson 3

The Warehouse Management Views

In order to implement warehouse management , you need to create the warehouse views in material master.

The first view contains information about the specific warehouse but the second view contains storage-type-specific information.

Whan do you need to create the second warehouse view?
if you assign the material to fixed bins , then you need to create this view and assign the fixed bin (in the storage bin field). This means during the putaway , the warehouse management system assign the bin to the material automatically and can find it for use in the stock removal.

Palletization Data
if the material master contains palletization data then WM adopt this as default values for each putaway operation. If the material is pallitized from the vendor or from production in a certian way then the system can use the default values in material master to distribute the the overall putaway quantity and perform storage bin determination.

Before you enter the palletization data you have to maintain the storage bin types in customizing.

The palletization data is default value , you can change the palletization data before you perform the putaway operation.

Customer Master Record
in the customer master record there are three views :
General View : contains the address and the bank's account for the customer.
Company Code data : store among other things the payment procedure.
Sales Area Data : contains among other things the shipping conditions and delivering plants as default values for sales documents.

SCM601 - Unit 2 Lesson 2

Constructing Storage Bins Master Record

Storage bins are master data in WM... when you create storage bin you can assign it to storage bin TYPE...

Why do we have storage bin types?
In case we have two types of bins each with different dimensions in the storage section...

You can block storage bin(s) for the putway and/or stock removal and/or stock transfer...

what is the Quant ?
the Quant is the stored quantity in the storage bin...

Cariterias to define the quant :

The material that is stored in the storage bin , if it has the same :
1. Material Number
2. Stock Type (unrestricted use , blocked , quality inspection).
3.Special Stock Assignment (e.g Project , customer)
4.Plant/Storage location assigment of the material
5.Batch number (if applicable).

Can we add to an existing quant ?
if you want to add to the quant (if it is not mixed) , make sure you maintain the cariteria that define the quant.
e.g. same material , stock type ...etc
ALSO , there is a setting that needs to be done in the storage bin to allow "addition to existing stock"

keep in mind that after the addition to the existing stock , still it remains one quant...
sure it got increased...

Can we add different quants to the same bin?
yes , if we permit "mixed storage" in the storage type...

How to create storage bins ?

SCM601- Unit 2

To be able to map the process , you need to maintain the LE org units.

Each of the sub functions of the LE use its own org units :

Warehouse Management
uses Warehouse number  , subdivided to storage types , and the storage type is subdivided to storage sections.

Storage type :
used to map storage spaces that we separate either spatially or organizationally or it should be handled separetly in SAP ECC.

 Interim Storage area :
in standard SAP , they start with '9' . It forms the bridge between IM and WM.
e.g. good receipt zone or goods issue zone.

Storage Sections :
you create storage sections within storage types in order to subdivide your storage space.
i.e. you can divide your storage type into storage sections and store the fast moving material in the near sections.
also, based on your requirement you can use indicators to create links between material and storage sections.
Note:
even if you dont need to subdivide your storage type space , you have to create at least one storage section.

Picking Area:
same level as storage sections but it is used for stock removal reasons.
In contrast to storage section, it is optional.

Storage Bin :
Master data created in storage sections.

Delivery Processing
uses shipping poing (location of the shipping process or group of people responsible for the shipping process)
The shipping point is essintial for using GI with outbound delivery .

Transportation
uses transportation planing point (location or group of people).

How the LE org units are linked to SAP Org units?

Transportation Planing Point
is assigned to only one company code , to calculate the frigh costs ...etc
The company code can have many transportation planing points

Shipping Points :
is assigned to plant in M.N relationships.

Warehouse number:
is assigned to at least one Plant/Storage Type combinations.

SCM601 - Unit 1

Suite
e.g. SAP Business suite contains  MySAPERP , MySAPCRM , MySAPSCM , MySAPSRM , MySAPPLM...

Solutions
e.g. MYSAPERP , MySAPSCM

Applicatin Components
e.g.Logestics Excution

  • Planing data in SAPSCM is used to create purchase orders, production orders , shipments ...

MySAPSCM  covers the following areas :
planing and optimizations : SAP APO
Excution : SAP ECC
coordination and monitoring : SAP EM
Collaboration : SAP APO with SAP EP

MySAP ERP solution contains:
  1. mySAP ERP Financials ,
  2. mySAP HCM,
  3. mySAP ERP Operations,
  4. mySAP Corporate Services.

  • logistics Excution component exists in MySAPERP , MySAPSCM
  • Logistics Excution covers Warehouse management , shipping  processing , Transportation processing
  • LE connects to MM , PP , SD
  • LE is the link between procurement and distribution

How could you map your GR,GI processes in LE?
we can start with either :
1. create a delivery
2.do inventory posting

Good Receipt:
a.1 inbound delivery with  reference to Po
a.2 putaway with TO
a.3 confirm TO
a.4 GR posting with reference to the delivery

b.1 GR posting
b.2 TR
b.3 putaway with TO
b.4 confirm TO

Goods Issue:a.1 outbound delivery with reference to SD
a.2 Picking with TO
a.3 Confirm TO
a.4 GI posting with reference to the delivey

b.1 GI posting
b.2 TR
b.3 Picking with TO
b.4 Confirm TO

Which methods to use ?
it depends on the context...
e.g. if it is a stock removal for a sales order processing , you usually refers to outbound delivery...
if you want to receipt goods from production , you usually use GR posting for the work order with a subsequent putaway...
