To be able to map the process , you need to maintain the LE org units.
Each of the sub functions of the LE use its own org units :
Warehouse Management
uses Warehouse number , subdivided to storage types , and the storage type is subdivided to storage sections.
Storage type :
used to map storage spaces that we separate either spatially or organizationally or it should be handled separetly in SAP ECC.
Interim Storage area :
in standard SAP , they start with '9' . It forms the bridge between IM and WM.
e.g. good receipt zone or goods issue zone.
Storage Sections :
you create storage sections within storage types in order to subdivide your storage space.
i.e. you can divide your storage type into storage sections and store the fast moving material in the near sections.
also, based on your requirement you can use indicators to create links between material and storage sections.
Note:
even if you dont need to subdivide your storage type space , you have to create at least one storage section.
Picking Area:
same level as storage sections but it is used for stock removal reasons.
In contrast to storage section, it is optional.
Storage Bin :
Master data created in storage sections.
Delivery Processing
uses shipping poing (location of the shipping process or group of people responsible for the shipping process)
The shipping point is essintial for using GI with outbound delivery .
Transportation
uses transportation planing point (location or group of people).
How the LE org units are linked to SAP Org units?
Transportation Planing Point
is assigned to only one company code , to calculate the frigh costs ...etc
The company code can have many transportation planing points
Shipping Points :
is assigned to plant in M.N relationships.
Warehouse number:
is assigned to at least one Plant/Storage Type combinations.
